The ruby, many times seen in the points of our membership badge, has special meaning to Alpha Sigma Alphas. The seeking of noble ideals, even at great personal sacrifice, was exhibited by our five founders on November 15, 1901. At the State Female Normal School, now Longwood University in Farmville, VA, Alpha Sigma Alpha founders stated in the charter that, ‘The purpose of the association shall be to cultivate friendship among members and in every way to create pure and elevating sentiments, to perform such deeds and to mold such opinions as will tend to elevate and ennoble womanhood in the world.’ Members today continue to strive towards those ideals.
We introduce you to Ruby Points Cellars – 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon from California. This is a bold and expressive wine, with rich aromas of blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry complemented by hints of mocha and cedar. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied experience with layers of blackcurrant, plum, and savory notes.

Calva
2020 Red Wine – Napa Valley
Born in Nottaway County, VA, Calva led Alpha Chapter in scholastic achievement. Although younger looking than her classmates, Calva was extremely intelligent with interests lying in campus literary societies and language clubs. She held the position of historian for Alpha Chapter.
We introduce you to Calva. Our proprietary red blend always exhibits the craft of blending, where all the parts complement the round character of the final wine. Deep dark saturated color, with spicy plum and black cherry, tobacco, cinnamon, and floral and camphor hints on the nose while on the palate it is voluptuous, dark fruited, juicy, round and long lasting with currant, dark chocolate, roasted beets and a persistent finish in this full-bodied wine.

The two jewels of Alpha Sigma Alpha have long signified development, simplicity and determination. The pearl is a constant reminder to seek opportunities that encourage social, spiritual, physical and intellectual growth. The ruby embodies an unwavering determination to seek and attain aspirational goals. Together, the two jewels serve as a beacon for members to remain steadfast in all their endeavors.
We introduce you to Rubies & Pearls. This is an alluring and complex white wine blend, with a sensuous offering of tropical fruits, white flowers and subtle spice. The nose is like a bouquet of flowers and jumps from the glass with ripe lemon, white peach and orange blossom followed by notes of toast and white pepper. On the tongue, lemon bursts forward with pineapple and other tropical fruit, with undertones of vanilla. The finish is bright and zingy and mellows with vanilla and subtle spices in its length.
