Ruby Points - Hattie - 2023 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

Born in Nansemond County, VA in 1886, Hattie Kelly Thomas was a devoted leader whose legacy helped preserve Alpha Sigma Alpha's early history. She became the sorority’s first initiate on Jan. 3, 1903, signing the original charter while attending the State Female Normal School in Farmville. Hattie dedicated decades to AΣA, serving as national vice president, alumnae editor, and national historian. In 1933, she presented the original 1903 charter at the reinstallation of Alpha Chapter and was later honored with a jeweled badge for a lifetime of steadfast service. 

We introduce you to Hattie. The 2023 vintage will be remembered for its cool conditions throughout the summer and into harvest, shaping a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. Layered aromas of blackberry, baking spices, cranberry, cardamom, anise, and floral rose burst forth on the nose, while zingy cherry juice, cola nut, black tea, pomegranate, and hints of lemon zest unfold on the palate of this lush round Pinot that is braced by bright acidity.
